When I, Ellie Uyttenbroek, was little, I spent my free time CREATING outfits for all my dolls. Since then, I’ve considered myself a MAKER. Although I initially wanted to study FRENCH, I applied to the Art School in Rotterdam. I graduated as FASHION DESIGNER in 1994. 

My career kicked off working as a DESIGNER on the IDENTITY of a boys’ brand.

Around the same time, in 1994, I became the CO-CREATOR of EXACTITUDES together with Ari Versluis. A project that’s still ongoing today. CASTING became my main focus; STYLE-PROFILER my middle name. Social typologies, archetypes, uniform identity, dress codes, and style are central to the project.

In my daily work, I’m a PLANNER, an ORGANIZER and an ARCHIVIST.

I have enjoyed working as an independent CURATOR on various exhibitions.

Throughout my career, I’ve been a MOTIVATOR for students, and people in my circle often describe me as a MATCHMAKER.

I’m an INITIATOR of new projects, and as an ARIES, I’m naturally driven to make them happen.

Since 2020 I am a COLLECTOR of cultural costume dolls and I am currently working on a book titled SOUVENIR. More than a catalogue of the collection, it is a reflection on cultural representation, identity, and memory. It explores archetypes from the past that can inspire anyone with a love for style and dress codes, craft and design, and human beings in general.
